Philippines Stops the Use of Non-Biodegradable Plastic

Biodegradable plastic has made the headlines over the past few days around the world. Filipino officials have begun the crack down process on institutions for not using biodegradable plastic in their shops. Davao City officials have began to sweep the malls and other shopping establishments to tidy up the country from the use of non-biodegradable plastic items. The first offense for not using biodegradable plastic is a mandatory seminar on biodegradable plastic and the benefits behind the use. The 4th offense results in jail time, 6 months in jail to be exact.

Filipinos are not taking the move lightly because many household items have increased by over 25% and the reduction in quantity in those products has been apparent. The PhilStar reported that Styrofoam containers have reduced their quantity in packages from 15 to 10 and increased the charge from 29PHP to 40PHP, which is disturbing to say the least. BioSphere additive would increase the cost of the Styrofoam containers by APPROX or less 2 PHP or .04 USD. At BioSphere we believe in giving the most cost affordable biodegradable plastic solution in the market.

BioSphere is actively seeking out Filipino Distributors to combat the enormous increase of costs in the biodegradable plastic market within the Philippines.
