Biosphere Plastic launched a new marketing campaign today to spread the word and promote their new biodegradable technology. Biosphere is now marketing its biodegradable plastic additives, price matching all oxo-degradable products currently being utilized in the manufacturing of existing products.
BioSphere’s biodegradable plastic additive enhances biodegradation in both aerobic (in the presence of oxygen) and anaerobic (with out the presence of oxygen) environments. Oxo-degradable additives on the other hand, only enhance the biodegradation of polymers in aerobic environments. This is a problem of epic proportion, as the majority of plastics end up buried in landfills (anaerobic environments), and oxodegradable products simply cannot breakdown in in these environments, because they need oxygen, heat and UV rays to degrade. Unfortunately these products will stay intact, buried in the landfills for years to come. Regardless of this issue, many companies have continued to utilize oxo-degradable technology for years because of the compelling price point. Up until now, there hasn’t been a biodegradable product on the market that could come close to competing in price with the oxo-degradables.
Today, Biosphere offers a solution to this problem. President Rob Huegli explains. “There are very few applications where an oxo-degradable would be preferred over our Biodegradable plastic additive.
